DANVILLE β€” It’s a showown better suited for a district final, but it likely will happen early in the postseason.

Danville earned the No. 1 seed in the Division IV central district tournament draw Sunday and took a first-round bye. The state-ranked Blue Devils (16-3) will likely host second-seeded Newark Catholic at 5 p.m. May 9 in a sectional championship game.

The Green Wave (13-7) will host No. 12 Shekinah Christian in a sectional semifinal game at 5 p.m. May 7.

Danville and Newark Catholic met in the district championship game last spring. The Green Wave cruised to a 13-2 victory.

Division I

Mount Vernon picked up the No. 9 seed among the central district’s 47 Division I teams and took a first-round bye. The Yellow Jackets will host either No. 32 Bishop Hartley or No. 35 Westerville South in a sectional championship game at 5 p.m. May 9.

Division III

Fourth-seeded Fredericktown took a first-round bye and will host either No. 14 Johnstown or No. 19 Worthington Christian in a sectional final game at 5 p.m. May 8. Meanwhile, No. 13 Centerburg will visit No. 11 Utica for a sectional semifinal game at 5 p.m. May 6.
