DANVILLE — We have a follow-up this week to a column a few weeks back that showed a photograph of the Miller Brothers Garage in Danville.

One of the people identified in the photo was Philip Miller, and his son Ken wrote it with more information and an additional picture.

β€œMy father was Phillip,” Ken wrote.Β β€œI believe this photo was taken around 1919, because Phillip went across the street, built, and started a gas station in 1920.Β

“The Miller Brothers Garage has been torn down, but the gas station still stands at the corner of Rt. 205 and Plum Street in Danville. The garage was located just north of Don Leo’s Market.

β€œThere was a ramp in the rear of the garage that they moved new automobiles to the second floor for a show room.Β They sold and repaired automobiles in the garage.”

To answer one of the questions from the original column, Ken noted that John was not missing an arm, he just had it tucked completely behind him in the photograph.

He added that John and his wife Laurie lived in the office above the garage.
