Orrel M. Lybarger, age 99, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. She was born on September 21, 1924, to the late R. Harold and Emily (Johnson) Workman.
Orrel was a member of the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church for most of her adult life. She was a homemaker and raised two wonderful children. She was a devoted wife to her husband of over 55 years, Emmett Lybarger. In her younger years, Orrel liked to work with clay and enjoyed woodworking. She liked living on the family farm, and watching her grandson’s playing sports, most of all she loved being around her family and friends.
Orrel is survived by her children, William “Bill” (Andrea) Lybarger, Emily (Daniel) Hoar; grandchildren, Jason (Lindsay) Hoar, Jeffrey Hoar; great-grandchildren, Colter, Jackson, and Kaitlyn Hoar; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Orrel is preceded in death by her husband, Emmet; a sister, Lola Statler; and a brother, H. Eldon Workman.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am with a funeral service starting at 11 am at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050, with Pastor Thom Fowler officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Liberty Chapel Cemetery.
