Patricia R. Brayton, age 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at her home.
She was born on November 4, 1937, in Rochelle, Illinois to the late Edward and Helen (Johnston) Collins.
Patricia graduated high school in 1955 and then from Mount Vernon Bible College in 1960. She was an ordained minister with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Patricia had also co-pastored numerous other churches with her husband.
She opened Avalon Daycare Center in Mount Vernon in 1976. Patricia operated the business until 1997 when she sold it to take care of her parents.
Patricia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert, and Sandra Brayton; grandchildren, Christina Brayton, and Jessica (David) Daughton; great-grandchildren, Iris and Griffin Daughton; siblings, Joan Horton, Bill (Sheri) Collins, Karen (Chuck) Marshall, Linda (Wayne) Sliger; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Brayton, son, Bill Brayton, sister, Donna Abbott, brothers-in-law, Carol Abbott, and Gerald “Bud” Horton.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Where funeral services will be held on Friday starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
