John T. Miller, 80, of Mount Vernon passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, March 10, 2024 in the emergency room at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on November 12, 1943 in Groveville, New Jersey to the late John F. and Jean (Savalli) Miller.
John honorably served his country in the Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army, John started a career as a bull rider and he won several belt buckles over the years. He drove truck for On-Line Transport in Indianapolis, Indiana and he logged more than a million miles in his 50 plus years driving career. John loved to travel with his wife, Marsha which included visiting many lighthouses. He enjoyed smoking a good cigar on the deck.
John is survived by his loving wife of over 31 years, Marsha (Whited) Miller; a daughter, Sarah (Jeff) DeClue of California; grandchildren, Ruby and Chloe DeClue of California; stepdaughter, Heidi Thompson of Mount Vernon; stepson, Mark (Rita) Heaton of Sunbury; step grandchildren, Taylee Thompson of Mount Vernon, Zain and Rhea Heaton of Sunbury; and step great grandchildren, Taybian Adam and Treasure Thompson of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Jean Miller.
