Douglas P. Peterson, 81 of Mount Vernon passed away on March 5, 2024 at his residence, with his wife by his side, following a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born on June 30, 1942 to Edmund and Violetta (Spencer) Peterson in Olean, NY.
Doug was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. He was an Army National Guard Veteran. Doug was a member of the Elks Lodge #140 and Moose Lodge # 2555. He was a graduate of Grove City High School in Grove City, Pennsylvania, Class of 1960. Doug then graduated from Newcastle Business School in 1962. He started working for Cooper Energy Services in 1963 until his retirement in 2000.
Doug is survived by his wife Diana L. (Hines) Peterson; nieces and nephews Jeff (Carla) Hines, Todd (Julie) Hines, Julie (Scott) Shoemaker, Becky (Don) Robertson, Travis (Lauren) Ronk, Tara (Chad) Davis, Lindsay (John) Collier, John (Cynthia) McAllister, Carolyn (Mark) Culp, Erin (Kris) Faber; many great nieces and nephews; a sister Cynthia ( John) McAllister; sister-in-law Jeannette Peterson.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Edmund Peterson Jr.

Graveside services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Forest Cemetery, Sandusky Street, Fredericktown, OH.
