MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Auditor Terry Scott continues his streak of receiving an achievement award for excellence in reporting.

It is Scott’s 29th consecutive award since he’s been with the city.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Mount Vernon for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2022.

An impartial panel judged Scott’s report to meet the high standards of the program. Standards include demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Scott is working to complete the 2023 report and will submit it when complete.
