Neal F. Marshall, 79, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at The Kobacker House in Columbus.

He was born on June 11, 1944, in Mount Vernon to the late Lewis and Eleanor (Shellenbarger) Marshall.

Neal was a loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Son. He surrounded himself with lifelong friends and cherished all of his relationships. His love of people led him to work in sales and service where he would always greet with a smile and leave with a new friendship. He was an early member of the Pacemakers racing community in Mount Vernon. At 16 he was always at the track and began by classifying cars. His love of racing led to many years as the announcer at the drag strip. He was known for his booming voice which could be heard all across town on a Saturday night.

As a tribute to his love of cars and his dedication to racing, members of the hot rod and street rod communities are invited to participate in the funeral and procession to the gravesite.

He is survived by his son, Brian (Joanne) Marshall, a daughter, Sloane Marshall, five grandchildren, Joelle Marshall, Hillary Marshall-Rolph, Hailey Marshall, Kaiya Espey, Jamie Espey, and a sister, Linda Shrimplin.

He was preceded in death by his fiancé, Elly L. Fowler, and his Father Lewis Marshall and mother Eleanor Shellenbarger, and stepfather, Robert Burke.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon. Where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Mound View Cemetery. As a part of his funeral arrangements, Neal really wanted those with a love of classic cars and hot rods to participate in the procession to the cemetery.
