John Robert Squires, age 88, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on May 10, 1935, to the late John and Elizabeth (Schrader) Squires.
John was a graduate of Fredericktown High School class of 1953. After high, school John joined the United States Army and served his country proudly. He was a brick mason and owned and operated his own business for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, playing cards, putting together puzzles, going to museums, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and NFL Football. He especially enjoyed getting “Great Deals” on tools at auctions, even if he didn’t need them.
John is survived by his sons, Allen Squires, Rodney (Lynette) Squires; and one granddaughter, Kaylie Squires.
Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Squires; and a sister, Ester Marie Chapman.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 5 – 7 PM with a funeral service on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11 AM at the Snyder Funeral Home Fredericktown Chapel; 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio, 43019 with Evangelist Troy Northrop officiating. A burial will follow in Forest Cemetery with Military Honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Knox County; 17700 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, in memory of John and Sue Squires.
