Earl W. Gorsuch, 86, of Gambier, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 26, 1937, in Mount Vernon to the late Ray and Elizabeth (Whitney) Gorsuch.

Earl was a 1956 Gambier High School graduate and attended the University of New Mexico. He was a lifetime member of Grove Church of Christ. Where he served as Elder, Trustee and various offices. Earl was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Ft. Lewis, WA and Berlin, Germany. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass for 19 years and retired from ODOT in 2000.

He served on the board of directors for Country Mutual Insurance Company in Sunbury for 32 years and was Harrison Twp. Appeals Board for 15 years. Earl also spent time coaching Little League teams and enjoyed watching his granddaughters and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his children, Daniel (Michelle) Gorsuch of Gambier and Melinda (William) Dufur of Mount Vernon; cherished granddaughters, Whitney (Joe Calkins) Kandel, Lauren Gorsuch, Morgan (Logan) Gibbs, Katelyn (Ben) Olewiler, and Jessica (Justin Davis) Ketter; grandsons, Kaleb (Emilisa) Cunningham and Collin Pay; cherished great grandchildren, Drake, Deryka, Alyssa and Kinley Kandel, Everly Calkins, Thadius, Theodore and Trinity Gibbs and Jayden Ketter, Jaxon Davis, Aubrey Benson, Kaylenna Cunningham and Oliver Pay, along with numerous nices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Gorsuch in 2023, brothers, Robert and Paul Gorsuch, sisters, Lorena Cornet, and Jean Longfellow.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Grove Church of Christ. Where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
