Roger C. Busenburg, 59, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 8, 1964 to the late Woodrow Parker and Helen Maxine (Wheeler) Busenburg.

Roger Busenburg was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He graduated from East Knox High School and then moved to Massachusetts with his wife Wendy to begin a family. When he lived in Massachusetts, he went to school and became certified as an official “Weather Observer” for arriving and departing cargo aircraft at the Worcester airport. Roger lived in Massachusetts with his family for 14 years before moving back to Mount Vernon. He had a very long and successful career in the elevator trade business, where he was most recently a State of Ohio Elevator inspector. Roger was an outdoorsman at heart and truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends hunting, fishing, golfing and mushroom hunting. He also loved camping, especially at the Caves Campground that his mother and father built and owned for many years. Roger enjoyed coaching youth sports and helped coach his three sons’ youth sports teams throughout their childhood. He loved spending time in Cape Cod with his brother and nephews fishing and golfing. He also loved being in Florida on the boat with his sister Sue and her boys. In his later years, he truly cherished any time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. Roger will be remembered as the center of any gathering and bringing laughter and joy to those in his presence.

Roger is survived by children, Derick (Jessi) Busenburg and their children, Zachary, Alexander and Parker of Mount Vernon, Patrick (Laura) Busenburg and their children, Isabella, Gabriella, and Daniella of Bradenton, FL, and Tyler (Erica) Busenburg of Bradenton, FL; a sister, Sue Kirk of Englewood, Florida; a brother, David (Karen) Busenburg of Marstons Mills, MA; nephews, Curt, Eric, and Marc Busenburg, Scotty and Tory Osborne, and Dale Snow; nieces , Jacque McGrady, Diane Moran, Debbie Richardson, and Angie Wade, the mother of his children, Wendy Busenburg of Mount Vernon, and significant other Peggy McFarland of Zanesville.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet (Merle) Snow, Caroll (Ralph) McGrady, and Ronnie Kirk and nephew David Busenburg.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon with Mr. Roger Marra officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery. A Masonic service will be held at the beginning of the funeral service.
