HOWARD: Susie Lynn Carpenter passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by her family at the age 76.
She was born on September 10, 1947, to parents Clifford & Glorene (Lee) Hindman in Mansfield, Ohio. Susie graduated from Loudonville High School with the class of 1965, and married Gary Carpenter on January 24, 1970. The pair raised two sons together and were married for 54 years.
As a homemaker, Susie loved and cared for her family and home throughout the years, while also running Pigeon Roost Pine Grove, the family Christmas tree farm. The Carpenter family took over the farm around 1970 and Susie has been running it for 30 plus years.
She had many hobbies which included vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, baking bread, and golfing. Susie played on the Pleasant Hill Golf League for several years and had still been golfing this last summer. She loved Christmas and Christmas trees; she always had several trees set up throughout the house (even in the bathroom) which had theme décor and matching wrapper paper. Most of all, Susie was such a caring person who would help anyone who was in need and loved spending time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband Gary Carpenter; her sons Eric (Nicole) Carpenter and Jason (Amber) Carpenter; her grandsons Brent Carpenter, Brandon Carpenter, and Tyler Carpenter; her sister Sharon (Roger) Stevens; and her nephew and niece Mark (Melissa) Stevens and Sherri (Giovanni) Greco.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Irene and Glorene Hindman.
Susie’s family will receive friends Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 11 am to 1 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville, with a funeral service immediately at 1 p.m. Rev. Howard Clevenger will officiate and burial will follow in Sand Ridge Cemetery.
