MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher found 37 people guilty after hearings and court trials were conducted this week at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

These were the cases brought forward by Mount Vernon Law Director P. Robert Broeren Jr.’s Office.

Jan. 22

Michael McVay, 56, of Danville, was found guilty of criminal mischief.

Marilyn Chalfant, 53, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of falsification.

Larry Fox, 39, of Howard, was found guilty of violation of a protection order.

Adam Thomas, 43, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of assault.

John Ferguson, 60, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of disorderly conduct.

Cole Hauger, 39, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of assault.

Brian Fischer, 47, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of physical control of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or a drug of abuse.

Tanner Dailey, 29, of Gambier, was found guilty of speeding.

First Assistant Law Director Brittany Whitney prosecuted all the other cases on behalf of the City of Mount Vernon, the State of Ohio, and the Villages of Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Gambier.

Jan. 23

Joseph Heins, 24, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of resisting arrest.

Ray Toller, 35, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of falsification.

Devin Weber, 24, of Howard, was found guilty of criminal mischief.

Floyd Ernsberger, 61, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of obstructing official business.

Lindsey Joseph, 30, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of a misdemeanor theft.

Michael Butcher, 54, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or a drug of abuse.

Larry Smith, 62, of Perrysville, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or a drug of abuse.

Evan Dilger, 24, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of driving under an FRA suspension.

Jessica Travis, 37, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failing to reinstate license and speeding.

Kevin Snelling, 25, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of driving under an FRA suspension.

Daniel Morris, 37, of Howard, was found guilty of operating electronic wireless device when prohibited and failure to obey traffic control signal.

Cheryl Steele, 76, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of speeding.

Micah Rex, 23, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of speeding.

Sally Deraleau, 60, Utica, was found guilty of driving under an FRA suspension.

First Assistant Law Director Brittany Whitney prosecuted the Weber case and Assistant Law Director Steve Potts prosecuted all other cases on behalf of the City of Mount Vernon, the State of Ohio, and the Villages of Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Gambier.

Jan. 24

Logan Rothgeb, 29, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failing to confine dog.

Colton Madden, 20, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle with fictitious plates.

Michael Kehres, 31, of Howard, was found guilty of speeding.

Darren Moore, 54, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of obstructing official business, failing to use a turn signal before turning and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Katrina Wintz, 45, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failing to stop after a motor vehicle accident.

Michael Blanchard, 55, of Worthington, was found guilty of failure to stop at a stop sign.

Patrick Morrisroe, 32, of Charlotte, NC, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle with expired plates.

Calvin Jones, 30, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of operating a motor vehicle while under a 12-point suspension and failure to use reasonable control of a motor vehicle.

Assistant Law Director Steve Potts prosecuted these cases on behalf of the City of Mount
Vernon, the State of Ohio, and the Villages of Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and
Gambier.

Jan. 26

Shawn Caudill, 46, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Casey Staats, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of passing a stopped school bus.

Dalton Turner, 25, of Zanesville, was found guilty of speeding.

Christopher Hope, 43, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of speeding.

Wesley Addy, 38, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while under an FRA suspension.

Brandon Sharp, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failure to stop at a stop sign.

Aaron Riley, 64, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while under an FRA suspension.

Amanda Alexander, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of failure to stop at a stop sign.

Assistant Law Director Steve Potts prosecuted these cases on behalf of the City of Mount Vernon, the State of Ohio, and the Villages of Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Gambier.

  1. I read the results of these cases every time they come out and I have never ever seen someone found not guilty. Why is no one ever found not guilty?
