Wayne Eldon Frank, age 90, of Danville, Ohio, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born June 24, 1933 at the Frank family farm near Danville, Ohio, one of twelve children of Walter and Rosella (Richert) Frank. Wayne was a graduate of Danville High School class of 1951, attended the Ohio State University briefly, and served four years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bremerton. He farmed throughout his life, and for a time was a youth leader at the former Mohican Juvenile Correctional Facility. He was a life-long and always active member of Zion Lutheran Church, near Jelloway, and loved playing cards, traveling to places near and far, spending time with family and friends, watching sports (especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians), mowing the yard, chopping wood, and so much more. Wayne found great delight in joking and laughing with family, friends and anyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Charlotte; devoted children, Kelley Frank (Trina Thornton), Kendra Frank, and Kurtis (Heather) Frank; six grandchildren, Travis and Tiffany Scott, Brendan, Malia, Erich, and Ellie Frank; brother Myron Frank of Bellefontaine; sister-in-law Ausma Frank of Oklahoma; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings and daughter Krista.
Arrangements are being handled with care by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lindsey Chapel in Loudonville. Calling hours and funeral worship service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 20177 Wooster Road, Danville on Friday, January 26 with public visitation between 10:00-11:45am and worship service beginning at Noon. Graveside committal with Navy honors will follow. Lunch will be served at the church. Contributions may be made in Wayne’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church or the Knox County Foundation (Wayne E. and Charlotte E. Frank Fund).
