Connie J. Simpson, age 61, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Centerburg Pointe. She was born on May 8, 1962, in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of Earl and Phyllis (O’Dell) Hubbard. Connie retired in 2011 after 30 years of employment with the Mount Vernon Developmental Center in Mount Vernon.
Connie was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Utica. If she wasn’t working, she enjoyed painting, drawing, fishing, boating and camping. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.
She is survived by her two stepsons, Adam (Brooke) Simpson of Mansfield, Aaron (Katie) Flecknoe of Mount Vernon, two step grandchildren, Dallas Flecknoe and Brianna Flecknoe, a sister, Christine (Ernest) Williamson of Salyersville, Kentucky, several nieces and nephews, cousin, Lori Abdon, good friends, Diane (Daren) Bolen of Loudonville.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Dean Simpson Jr. (2023), two brothers, Delbert Hubbard, and Earl Hubbard.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg, Ohio.
Memorial contributions in Connie’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.
