HOWARD — Knox County businessman Mark Hiner announced that he has filed petitions to run for the 98th Ohio House District.
The 98th House District includes all of Holmes and Coshocton counties as well as the eastern half of Knox County, including the city of Mount Vernon. The current state representative, Darrell Kick, is term-limited and cannot run again.
“I want to run for state representative so that I can be a strong voice for the citizens of Coshocton, Holmes and Knox counties in Columbus,” Hiner said. “As a political outsider, I believe I can bring some common-sense ideas to state government.”
Hiner is the owner of the Columbus Broadcasting Corporation. In this capacity, he acts as the president and general manager of WCBZ-TV, which is located in Columbus.
Hiner received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Technology from Ashland University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Ohio University.
Hiner and his wife Veronica have been married for 32 years and have two adult children. They reside in Howard.
“As a state representative, I want to bring my years of experience in business to the legislature to help fight the critical issues facing Ohio,” Hiner said. “I promise to be an effective voice for Coshocton, Holmes and Knox counties in Columbus.
“I will bring the concerns and needs of the citizens of these counties to the statehouse to make sure they are heard by our elected officials.”
