Larry G. Bloom, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born on October 10, 1942, in Sugar Tree Ridge, Ohio, to the late Glenn and Cora (Emery) Bloom.

Larry graduated from White Oak High School and then went to technical school and received an associate’s degree. After earning his degree, Larry was drafted into the United States Army and served his country proudly in Vietnam. Once his service ended, Larry worked for the Air Force as a civilian contractor. He enjoyed working on family Genealogy and spent numerous hours at court houses digging up information. Larry was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved playing handball, but most of all he loved being around his family.

Larry is survived by his son, Eric Bloom; grandchildren, Mac Bloom, Alexis (David) Wilson, Skyler Bloom, and Caelan Bloom; a brother, Gary (Carol) Bloom; a sister, Arlene (Richard) Hauke; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue (Purdum) Bloom; a son, Andrew Bloom; and a sister, Maxine Mossbarger.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5-7 pm with a funeral service on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11 am at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050. Burial will be held at 2 pm at Hanover Cemetery in Newark, Ohio.
