Naomi B. Mickley, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She was born on February 5, 1935, in Mount Vernon and was the daughter of the late Sanford and Lucille (Mavis) Stricker.
Naomi was a lifelong resident of Knox County and graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1953. She was an excellent athlete, playing woman’s softball beginning at the age of 13. An avid bowler and golfed throughout most of her life. Naomi won the Knox County Woman’s Open Golf Championship 9 times as well as having 3 hole-in-ones. In 2015, as an Honoree at Chapel Hill Senior Championship, she was recognized for her commitment and contribution to the game of golf in Knox County.
Naomi is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Andrea Belcher; stepdaughters, Jenny (Jack) Neibarger, Kathy (Brett) Marble; stepson, Kevin (Donna) Mickley; sister, Cheryl Laymon, grandchildren, Cameron (Shannon) Cline, Mackenzi (Dr. Galen) Hayek, Nolan Belcher, Nash Belcher; a great-grandson, Declan Cline, along with several step grandchildren and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Messmore, second husband, Ken Mickley; sister, Diana Bingham; brothers, Robert, Gail, Carl, and Dwight Stricker; stepsons, Tim, Jim, and Dennis Mickley; stepdaughter, Diane Carver.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 11:00 am– 12:00 pm at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Where a funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will be in East View Cemetery in Centerburg.
