Darrell Lee Whaley, age 69, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at his residence. He was born on July 15, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Elwood Whaley and JoAnn (Globe) Rothe. Lee enjoyed watching his son play football, listening to rock-n-roll music, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and working in his vegetable and flower gardens.
He is survived by his son, Dylan Whaley of Mount Vernon, three brothers, Woody Whaley of Dublin, Jack Rothe of Columbus, Jeff Rothe of Dallas, Texas, four sisters, Cherie (Mark) Lappen of Westerville, Dee (Johnny) Harvey of Marion, Mary (Kevin) Wheeler of Dexter, Michigan, and Kim (Bob) Hayes of Cumberland, Ohio.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Deanna Whaley.
The family will observe a private service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Darrell Lee Whaley.
