Garnette F. Yanchek, 93, of Fredericktown passed away on December 14, 2023 at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on February 20, 1930, to Salathiel and Catherine (Fowls) Bumpus in Mount Vernon, OH.
Garnette was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church. She was a civilian employee of the US Navy during the Korean War. She was a former employee of Continental Can and Ludlow. Garnette was also a former member of Questers and Eastern Star. Garnette enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, her pets and spending time with family.
Garnette is survived by her children James Yanchek of Fredericktown, OH, Michael Yanchek of Mount Vernon, OH; a niece Dolores Burcsak and many extended family members.
Garnette was preceded in death by her husband Michael Yanchek and her parents.
Memorial Contributions can be made in Garnette’s memory to Gay Street UMC, 18 N. Gay Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Flowers ~ Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm with Pastor Christopher Liberati officiating. Graveside services will follow at Moundview Cemetery.
