Richard G. “Richie” Cline, 87, Mount Vernon passed away on Monday morning, December 11, 2023 at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon following a courageous battle with declining health. He was born on June 3, 1936 in Mount Vernon to the late Jacob and Edith (Jackson) Cline.

Richie honorably served our country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from American National Can, where he was the Union President for Local 271. Richie was an avid bowler for over 50 years. He coached Little League Baseball and Softball teams and won many championships. Richie founded the Old Timers Softball League. He also started the Old Timers Bowling League and the Old Timers Golf League. Richie was a diehard Buckeyes fan. He was loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Richie is survived by his children, Tammy (Chad) Flack of Mount Vernon, Rodney (Carma) Cline and Ricky (Edie) Cline both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Nate, Tony, Tiffy, Tristin and Jessie; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richie was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte “Chotsie”; sister, Polly Burson; and brothers, Jakie, Robert, and Harold Cline.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of a memorial service honoring the life of Richie at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
