James Ross Deboard, age 85, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 26, 1938, in Delaware, Ohio, the son of Henry Marvin and Mary (Calvert) Deboard. James was a 1956 graduate of Amity High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962.

James retired from TRW of Mount Vernon. He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge, Fraternal order of Elks #140, the Eagles, and was a life-long member of Amvets Post #95. James was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed spending time with his family as he always cherished the family gatherings and following his boys in their activities over the years.

He is survived by his two sons, James Deboard of Mount Vernon, and John (Eddie) Deboard of Columbus, a brother, Jerry Deboard of Mount Vernon, a sister, Joanne Deboard of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer “Jenny” Deboard, a sister, Janice Moreland and a brother, Jack Deboard.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Nicholas Kelly will be officiating and burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
