DANVILLE — The Danville football team’s postseason odyssey will head east on Friday night.

The second-seeded Blue Devils will tangle with No. 1-seed Dalton at Dover’s Crater Stadium at 7 p.m. in the Division VII, Region 25 championship game.

Coach Matt Blum’s squad improved to 13-0 after handling sixth-seeded Lowellville 41-21 last week at Massillon Perry.

Running back Cole Delaughder was the standout. The Danville senior shredded the Rockets for 235 yards in a dominating Sweet 16 performance. That gives Delaughder a total of 1,673 yards on the ground this season, breaking a Blue Devil school record.

Meanwhile, Dalton thumped No. 13-seed Norwalk St. Paul 48-28 in its regional semifinal.

The Bulldogs captured the Wayne County League championship with a perfect, 7-0 record.

Dalton (12-1) has won 12 straight after dropping a tight, 14-7 season-opener at state powerhouse Kirtland. The Hornets (12-1) are in a Division VI Regional championship game on Friday night against Mogadore.
