James W. Burdette, age 87, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Morrow Manor Nursing Home in Chesterville.

He was born on April 6, 1936, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late James Burdette and Kathryn (Hopkins) Burdette. He was employed as a Service Representative at Cooper Industries, from which he retired after many years of service. James was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 Mount Vernon, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027 Mount Vernon. He was a veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his daughters, Teia (Bob) Lewis, Belinda (Steve) Savage; and a grandson Tyler Savage.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter Anita Burdette; and his grandson Andrew Burdette.

A graveside service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, beginning at 2 PM in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.
