MOUNT VERNON — Hospice of Knox County and Mount Vernon Players are partnering to present a special two-week series of events, Oct. 26-Nov 5.
The collaboration begins Thursday with the “He(Arts) for Hospice Art Gala,” featuring artwork donated by local artists.
Artwork on display will be part of an online Art Auction where patrons can bid on their favorite pieces for the duration of the two weeks.
The gala is free and open to all in the community. Complimentary hors ‘doeurves will be served and a cash bar will be available.
Local harpists, artists, players and HNCO staff will be present to greet guests and dressed in their finest Victorian dresses, suits, and hats. Early 20th century attire is encouraged for all visitors, but not required.
Following the Art Gala and preview will be a production of “The Canterville Ghost,” performed by the Mount Vernon Players.
The Canterville Ghost is a play by Oscar Wilde and presented with permission by The Dramatic Publishing Company.
This family-friendly production is a story of forgiveness, love, and a child who befriends a mischievous ghost trying to scare the family back to America.
Tickets for the play on Thursday are limited and must be purchased in advance of the show.
The gallery space will be open throughout the two weeks for visitors to view the artwork in person before they bid.
A catalog of the pieces will be available online and in print.
Additional show dates are listed below.
Nov. 5 will wrap up the series of shows with Afternoon Tea. Tea and treats will be served while guests enjoy local harpists and an art demonstration followed by a live art auction.
Fascinators and top hats are encouraged for all guests but not required. Following the tea will be an encore production of “The Canterville Ghost.”
