Marlene E. Hedges, 90, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday morning, September 30, 2023, at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on January 24, 1933, in Mount Vernon to the late Glenn and Grace (McManis) Griffin.
Marlene retired from Cooper Bessmer where she worked for 39 years in the Payroll Division. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mount Vernon and the Colonial City Women of the Moose Chapter, #100. Marlene enjoyed bowling and watching the Indians, the Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Marlene is survived by her son, Bruce (Charlene) Walton of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Nathan Walton and Danielle Walton of Mount Vernon; and great-grandchildren, Levi, Aydenn, Kandence and Nathan II.
Addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Griffin.
The family will have a graveside service for Marlene on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Ebenezer Cemetery near Mount Vernon with Pastor Brad Ham officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Marlene asks that donations be made to the Humane Society, or First Christian or Station Break in her memory.
