CENTERBURG — Their playoff streak may be in jeopardy, but the Trojans control their own destiny.
Centerburg heads to Northmor on Friday clinging to the 16th and final playoff spot in Division V, Region 19. A win over the Golden Knights would almost assure the Trojans of a fourth straight playoff bid.
Centerburg has won the last two meetings against the Knights. Centerburg is 6-3 against Northmor since 2013.
Centerburg (4-4, 3-2) at Northmor (6-2, 4-1): The Trojans are coming off a 52-22 loss to Knox Morrow Athletic Conference leader Danville. Quarterback Jesse Rings has completed 74-of-108 passes for 840 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed for 427 yards and five TDs on 109 carries. Mason Turske has 18 catches for 297 yards and three touchdowns, while Isaiah Sule has 16 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. Trevin Harris has 15 grabs for 169 yards and three scores.
The Golden Knights pounded Mount Gilead 31-3 last week and have won three in a row. Quarterback A.J. Bower leads the KMAC with 1,572 passing yards and 23 touchdowns on 91-of-154 passing. Running back Carson Campbell has rushed for 638 yards and seven scores on 114 carries. Receivers Bo Landon leads the KMAC with 516 receiving yards on 20 catches, averaging a KMAC-high 25.8 yards per catch. Jax Wenger has 28 receptions for 499 yards and a conference-high 10 TD catches. Paul Cramer leads the defense with 46 tackles and has five interceptions. Cameron Goldbach has six sacks and Hunter has five interceptions.
Loudonville (3-5, 2-3) at East Knox (5-3, 4-1): The Redbirds blanked Cardington 49-0 last week to snap a three-game losing streak. Baylor Weiser ranks second in the KMAC with 93 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss. Dual-threat quarterback Mathew Sprang has completed 91-of-164 passes for 1,134 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed for 697 yards and nine TDs on 152 carries. Camdyn Beachy has 29 receptions for 384 yards and two TDs. Weiser has 23 grabs for 337 yards and five TDs.
The Bulldogs blanked Fredericktown 35-0 last week. Blake Elliott ranks second in the KMAC with 933 yards and 12 touchdowns on 119 carries, while Aaron White has 326 yards on 65 carries. Quarterback Jax Lester has completed 62-of-122 passes for 812 yards and eight TDs. Bracen Devis leads the KMAC with 30 catches for 427 yards and six TDs. Elliott leads the conference with 97 tackles. Bryar Householder tops the KMAC with nine sacks among his 54 tackles.
Mansfield Senior (6-2, 5-0) at Mount Vernon (2-6, 1-4): The Tygers can clinch at least a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference crown for the first time since 2017 with a win. Senior High roughed up Wooster 35-7 last week, limiting the Generals to 147 yards. Symirr Phillips had three sacks and leads the Tygers with 17.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. Linebacker Maurice Bradley II has 10.5 sacks and leads the team with 93 tackles. Offensively, quarterback Duke Reese has completed 66-of-144 passes for 909 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 376 yards and three TDs on 73 carries. Amarr Davis has a team-high 34 catches for 595 yards and five touchdowns while Nate Dismuke has 16 catches for 257 yards and five scores.
The Yellow Jackets struggled in last week’s 38-0 loss to Madison. Mav Gregory led Mount Vernon with 61 rushing yards on nine carries. Mason Richards rushed for 29 yards on eight attempts. Jony Askew suffered an ankle injury early and was limited to 21 total yards.
