MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Career Center’s (KCCC) Building Trades program made history this week.

Seniors and juniors in the Building Trades program were the first career center in the nation to receive Solar Field Installation Training by Laborers Local 1216 and the Ohio Laborers Training Center.

Students learned how to erect solar field structures and how to install panels. Juniors were trained in the morning and seniors were trained in the afternoon.

Both groups received expert instruction and training.

“It was a great opportunity to get a feel for what’s out there in our industry,” Lane Warner, senior in Building Trades, commented. “It was a really good experience for everyone.”

Colby Clippinger, KCCC’s Building Trades instructor, added, “We appreciate our
business partners keeping our career center and students on the cutting edge of training and technology.”
