James E. Corba, 80, of Bellville, passed away on September 5, 2023, from an extended illness while being surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 17, 1943, in Mount Vernon, to John J. and Velma (Brubaker) Corba.

Jim graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1961 and attended The Ohio State University. He then completed four years of service in June 1969 with the United States Navy; then returned to The Ohio State University to complete his studies and graduated in December 1970. Jim worked a number of years for United Telephone, Sprint, and Mansfield Plumbing Products.

Grandchildren brought Jim a profound sense of pride. Additionally, he loved the Buckeyes, Bengals, Reds, and college sports in general. He enjoyed working on his extensive model train set, mushroom hunting, sitting around a campfire, and hosting July 4th parties. Jim always appreciated good conversations about politics, sports, and his navy experience.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara (Blubaugh) Corba, whom he married on June 21, 1969; his children, Dr. Tim (Adina) Corba and their children Mitchell (Kim) Trimble, Averi, and Hayden; Tina (Phil) Kraus and their children Anastasia and Isabella; Tiffany (Ken) Zellmer and their son Grayson. He is also survived by his brother, John C. Corba, and a sister; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Garrett Michael Corba; sister-in-law, Bonnie Corba, Great niece Ashley (Kennedy) Ott and Ashley’s father Don Kennedy. Also, brothers-in-law, Clem Blubaugh and Lawrence Blubaugh; nephews Todd Mickley, Brad and Brett Blubaugh, and Shawn Blubaugh.
Visition will be held Saturday, September 16 from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St, Fredericktown with a burial service to follow at The Owl Creek Church of the Brethren, 13241 Toms Road, Bellville.
