Earl K. Tier, age 83, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on October 20, 1939, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Walter and Dessie (Ashburn) Tier.

Earl was a 1957 graduate of Gambier High School and retired in 2000 after 32 years of employment with the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. In his free time, he enjoyed working and tinkering on the family farm and attending his children and grandchildren’s events and activities.

He is survived by his children, Jamie Tier of Mount Vernon, and Penny Young of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Bradley (Jen) Tracy, Caleb (Makenzie) Tier, Stephen Rex Jr., and Nicholas Rex, seven great grandchildren, Vander, Joven and Abigail Tracy, Caden and Keagan Tier, Bodhi and Thaddius Rex, siblings, Ruth Johnson of Mount Vernon, Dale Tier of Mount Vernon, Harold Tier of Mount Vernon, and Alice Jean Smith of Gambier.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Green.
Friends may call on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
