MOUNT VERNON – The 35th annual Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival will result in several downtown street closings.

On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 4 p.m., the city will close Public Square for the set-up of food concessions and the stage. This includes North Main Street to Chestnut Street. South Main Street from the Square to Ohio Avenue will also close, as well as Vine and Gambier Streets from Gay to Mulberry.

All streets will remain closed as the festival continues through Sunday afternoon. Detours are posted and enforced by the City of Mount Vernon.

South Mulberry Street, South Gay Street, Chestnut Street, and Ohio Avenue all remain open to traffic during the festival, but drivers should plan for delays. The city will reopen all closed downtown streets on Sunday evening when the festival ends and after cleanup is completed, at approximately 6:30 p.m.
