D. Keith Merrin, 85, went to his eternal home in heaven on August 5, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. He preceded his college sweetheart and love of his life, Sue, by only eight short hours in his death. Theirs was a love that lasted over six decades.
Keith played high school basketball at Fredericktown and Mount Vernon high schools. His playing days continued at Capital University where he graduated with a degree in mathematics education. He received a master’s degree in mathematics at Washington State University.
Coach Merrin was a well-respected teacher and coach. His coaching career started as the freshman basketball coach at Capital University. He then moved to the high school level, teaching and coaching at Columbus North, Logan Elm, Delaware Hayes, Mount Vernon, and Gahanna Lincoln.
