MOUNT VERNON — It’s Big Monday for Knox County softball fans.

Four of the county’s five teams won sectional championships last week and will be in action in this week’s district tournaments. Three of the four play Monday afternoon.

In Division I, seventh-seeded Mount Vernon will host No. 16 Olentangy Orange at 5 p.m. Monday. The Yellow Jackets (20-7) advanced with a 12-3 win over No. 36 Dublin Coffman.

Orange cruised into the district tournament thanks to a 10-0 win over Logan.

In Division III, both East Knox and Centerburg won sectional crowns last week and will play in district semifinal games Monday afternoon. The sixth-seeded Bulldogs (16-6) will visit No. 5 Liberty Union at 5 p.m., while the third-seeded Trojans (20-6) host No. 4 North Union.

East Knox advanced with an 11-1 win over Cardington in the sectional final. Liberty Union held off Lakewood 3-1.

Centerburg punched its ticket to the district tournament with a 7-2 win over Northmor. North Union beat Utica 7-1.

In Division IV, second-seeded Danville (17-6) will host No. 3 Berne Union at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the district semifinals. The Blue Devils advanced with a 9-2 win over Ridgedale in the sectional finals, while Berne Union beat No. 5 Grove City Christian 6-3.
