John H. Dain, age 88, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon.
He was born on April 9, 1935, in Waupaca, Wisconsin to the late Erwin and Anna (Theison) Dain. John was a self-employed handyman and also worked on farm tractors. He enjoyed John Deere tractors, bluegrass festivals, the Malabar Farm Heritage Days Festival, wineries and classic country music. But most of all he loved the time he spent with his family and close friends.
He is survived by his daughter Laurie Lee; his son John Dain; his granddaughter Janette (Joe) Maglott; two great grandchildren, Vivian and Maci Maglott; his sisters, Jo Ann Davids and Rose Young; and his canine companion Molly.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family is planning a memorial gathering on a future day and time to be announced.
