FREDERICKTOWN — The Freddies are firing on all cylinders.
State-ranked Fredericktown (18-1) earned the top seed in the Division III Central district baseball tournament draw Sunday and will open postseason play at home at 5 p.m. May 18 in the sectional finals. The Freddies, who were second in Division III in this week’s Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association state poll, will host either No. 19 Madison Plains or No. 20 Harvest Prep.
East Knox (14-4) picked up the No. 6 seed and will host No. 9 Utica in the sectional final at 5 p.m. May 18.
No. 17 Centerburg (3-15) will open tourney play on the road. The Trojans visit No. 11 Mount Gilead at 5 p.m. May 16 in the sectional semifinals.
Division I
Mount Vernon is seeded 12th in the Central district field and took an opening-round bye. The Yellow Jackets host either No. 23 Marysville or No. 31 Dublin Coffman in the sectional finals at 5 p.m. May 17. Marysville hosts Coffman at 5 p.m. May 15.
Division IV
Eleventh-seeded Danville (6-11) will open tourney play at home. The Blue Devils host No. 15 Wellington School in the Division IV sectional semifinals at noon May 13. A win would send Danville into a sectional final at No. 4 Berne Union at 5 p.m. May 15.
