Antique apple peelers are the focus of the May 3, 2023, meeting of the Knox County Historical Society.

MOUNT VERNON — On Wednesday, May 3, the Knox County Historical Society will present a program on antique apple peelers from the collection of John Lambert of Utica. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the museum, 875 Harcourt Road in Mount Vernon.

Lambert started his collection more than 40 years ago soon after learning that more than 200 patents had been issued for apple peelers since the 1800s. He will show many examples, both large and small, from his extensive collection that now numbers over 200 fascinating “apple paring” mechanical devices.

The meeting is free and open to the public, and all persons interested in area history are invited to attend. For more information, call the museum at 740-393-5247 or visit the website at www.knoxhistory.org.
