Priscilla M. “Mickey” Hinkens, 91, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday evening, April 18, 2023 at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 15, 1931 in Martinsburg to the late Alex and Pearl (Simpson) Bickel.
Mickey and her husband, Donald were married on October 25, 1953 at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Mount Vernon. She retired from Kroger, where she worked in the produce department. She and Don are former members of the Moose Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the V.F.W. Spending time with and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events was Mickey’s greatest love in life.
Mickey is survived by her husband of over 69 years, Donald; sons, Michael (Darlene) Hinkens and Mark (Pamela) Hinkens of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Mike (Beth) Hinkens, Daniel (Alissa) Hinkens and Nichole (Jared) Robbins; great grandchildren, Kendall, Morgan, Bryce and Gianna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mickey was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Hinkens; and her siblings, Pauline, John, Sara, Pete, Bob and Jean.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. Mr. Roger Marra will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
