MANSFIELD — Just as north central Ohio digs out from one weather storm, another one is on its way.
The National Weather Service has announced there is a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north central Ohio, including Richland, Ashland, Knox and Crawford Counties.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region Wednesday afternoon, at approximately 1 p.m. There is potential for storms to become severe.
These storms may generate damaging wind gusts and perhaps tornadoes and large hail.
At the moment, hazardous weather is not expected Thursday through Tuesday, the weather service reported.
National Weather Service believes a “microburst” wreaked havoc Saturday in Madison Twp.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, severe winds traveled through Richland County causing significant damage to the Madison Township Fire Department, Madison Township Building, homes, businesses, and trees in the vicinity of Beal, Rayfield, Dresden roads and the State Route 42/30 interchange.
Loss of power was reported throughout the area due to downed power lines. Power was restored by Sunday evening, April 2.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has classified the incident as Straight Line Winds caused by a Microburst with an abrupt outflow of winds from the storms with 80-85 mph gusts.
Township officials and residents are still working with insurance providers to determine the extent of storm damages.
