Joan Clipse

Joan Daubenspeck Clipse, age 92, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on November 1, 1930, in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of Roy E. and Grace Marie (Steffen) Daubenspeck.

Joan was owner and operator with her late husband Edgar Clipse of Clippys Drive Inn from 1952 to 1970.  She then pursued a career in real estate, retiring from the Sam Miller Team of REMAX Stars Realty in 2012.

She is survived by her two grandsons; Sam (Carol) Miller of Mount Vernon and Matt (Jennifer) Miller of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; grandchildren, Erica Nicole Miller, Ryan Robert Miller and Kyle Andrew Miller; siblings, Gary (Betty) Daubenspeck of Mount Vernon, Larry (Kathryn) Daubenspeck of Mount Vernon, Jane (Dick) Davis of Fredericktown and Beth (Ben) Staats of Mount Vernon.

God blessed Joan with the most wonderful and caring friends, many who have gone before her, and many who are continuing life’s journey, each in their own way of loving, caring and giving.  Money and possessions may prove one’s wealth to the world, but it is the beautiful friendships that make it truly rich and each of you has a special place in her heart.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edgar “Clippy” Clipse and a daughter Deborah Miller.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, beginning at 2 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.  The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Joan Daubenspeck Clipse.
