MOUNT VERNON – Ten area school districts discussed potential employment with more than 40 seniors at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Wednesday. MVNU scheduled the morning-long interview fair in Foster Hall.
Dr. Timm Mackley, superintendent of the Knox Educational Service Center, was among administrators who conducted interviews with teaching candidates who will graduate in May.
“I’m talking with students about the two programs we operate, the Knox ESC Preschool and the Knox ESC Learning Center,” Mackley said. “We are always interested in talking with students who want to begin a teaching career.
“But I’m also here to promote Knox County as a beautiful place to live and work. In addition to sharing information about the ESC, I’m talking with students about openings in some of our client districts who couldn’t be here today, including Danville, Centerburg and Fredericktown.”
East Knox Local Schools, also an ESC client district, was represented at the interview fair by Cody Reese, junior/senior high principal, and Ben Snedeker, director of student services.
Among the staff openings in ESC client districts for 2023-2024 are school counselor, elementary art, high school math, high school language arts, 7-12 science teachers and speech/language pathologist.
“We have met with students today who have impressive academic credentials and a solid focus on their careers,” Mackley said. “I hope many of them will find rewarding opportunities here in Knox County.”
Also participating in the interview fair were representatives of Genoa Christian Academy, Highland Local Schools, Lexington Local, Mansfield Christian, North Fork Local, Olentangy Local, Teays Valley Local and the Knox County Career Center, also an ESC client district.
