Carl Lee Faulkner Sr. age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at home.
He was born on October 5, 1951, in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Carl Lewis and Gertrude Iona (Mihm) Faulkner. Carl was an Owner/Operator Truck Driver for over 53 years. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead VFW Post 8054, Amvets Post 87 Mt. Gilead, OOIDA (Owner Operators Independent Drivers Association) and the NRA.
Carl Lee lived for his family and loved immensely, never knowing a stranger, and making new friends everywhere he went. Through the years Pat and the kids would often hear him say, “We may not be rich, but we’re rich in love”. Lee lived life this way, showing kindness to strangers, helping those he saw with a need, and building strength and love within his family. If he was able to make one person smile each day, he would say he’d done what he was supposed to.
Lee loved to make people laugh and could always be found telling jokes, often in the same breath as complementing the love of his life, Pat. He would tell people that “the kids got all their good looks from me” with a completely straight face, then slowly grin once they looked truly shocked to only say, “well, they couldn’t have gotten them from Pat, she still has all hers”. Pat and Lee began their lifetime romance when they were just kids and remained best friends throughout, often holding hands, listening to music together, or slow dancing by the fire.
Personal hobbies have been many over the years, always expanding and learning new things, but farming and trucking have never waivered from the time growing up on a morrow county farm to the very last moment, always staying connected, helping where he could, even if just sharing a wealth of knowledge. The kids and grandkids loved to listen to his life’s stories and knew if they needed help figuring something out, he was the one to go to, especially if requiring some ingenuity. Lee was an adventurer, as noted by going skydiving for his 50th birthday, and loved to see and experience new places. He would see things while on the road driving truck and then come home to grab Pat, the puppies, and the RV to check them out together. His family can’t imagine the adventures he’s having now but will wait with anticipation to hear his stories again and join in with him.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Eagy) Faulkner of 53 years, married March 14, 1970; his daughters, Monica (Jay) Scott; Amber Jordan; his sons, Carl Lee (Stephanie) Faulkner Jr.; Charles (Christy) Faulkner Sr.; eleven grandchildren, David Scott, Ashlyn Jordan, Bruce Jordan, Abigail Jordan, Carl Lee Faulkner III, Thomas Faulkner, Timothy Faulkner, Brandi Faulkner, Charles Faulkner Jr., Willow Faulkner, and Jonathon Levi Faulkner; one great-grandchild due next month.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter LeaAnn Iona Faulkner, and his sisters, Marjorie Hadding and Betty Ann Osborn.
