CENTERBURG — Centerburg’s Board of Education approved the hire of new high school principal Brent Garee at the March public meeting Monday.
Garee is replacing John Morgan, who is retiring after 34 years with the Centerburg district.
He has a three-year, 260-day contract, according to the board’s agenda.
Garee comes from Fredericktown Local Schools, where he was the high school and middle school principal.
He holds more than 25 years of educational experience as a classroom teacher and administrator, according to a Centerburg Local Schools press release.
The release states Garee led the Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools for seven years. He also spent 15 years as an English teacher at Watkins Memorial High School, Northridge High School and Danville High School.
The focus Garee puts on progress and student learning was one of the main factors that made him right for the job, the release states.
