Robert Michael “Mike” Campbell, age 56, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, while living at the Echoing Hills Residential Center in Warsaw, Ohio. He was born on March 11, 1966, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the son of Edgar M. and Patricia M. (Finnell) Campbell.
Mike graduated from New Hope School in Mount Vernon, Ohio where he excelled in basketball, soccer and track. He competed in the Special Olympics in soccer and track. He loved being part of a team and performing in front of a crowd, whether it was winning or losing. Mike was also a participant in a special Christian clown group, where he was best known as “Pickles” the clown. His favorite act was performing as Elvis Presley. Mike never knew a stranger and if he met you, he loved you.
Family was Mike’s whole world. He loved his niece and nephews and enjoyed being a part of their lives, whether it be watching their sporting events or going to birthday parties.
Mike is survived by two sisters, Traci (Alan) Cassell and Tiffany (John) Miller, nieces and nephews, Grant (Lindsey) Cassell, Carter (Shelby) Cassell, Thomas Harrell and Emily Harrell, great nephews, Gavin Springton and Wyatt Cassell, numerous cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private burial will take place in Mound View Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Robert Michael “Mike” Campbell.
