CENTERBURG — Two adults are dead after several fire departments were called to a Centerburg house fire Sunday morning.
The two adults, whose identities haven’t been released, are dead after a fire erupted around 9:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Long Road.
One firefighter suffered minor upper-body burns, but was the lone injury among those responding to the blaze. The firefighter was released from a Columbus hospital Sunday night, Central Ohio Joint Fire District chief Mark McCann said.
Eight fire departments, including Central Ohio Joint Fire District, were called to the scene to combat the blaze.
It’s unknown at this time how the fire started, McCann said.
“My thoughts (go) to the family,” McCann said. “They lost a lot.”
Departments responding to the fire included:
- BST&G Fire District
- Hartford Township Fire Department
- Mount Vernon Fire Department
- Monroe Township Fire Department
- Porter-Kingston Fire District
- Delaware County EMS
- Homer Village Fire Department
- Big Walnut Joint Fire District
“Today was a tough day,” McCann said.
State fire marshals are investigating the scene, officials said.
