MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 15 people guilty and sentenced two defendants after arraignments hearings this week in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

These were the cases presented by the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office

NOV. 16

Mark Rapp, 27, of Sandusky, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine and sentenced him to serve 5 days in jail. Law Director, Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon in above case.

Eleven Found Guilty and Two Sentenced

MOUNT VERNON –Judge John Thatcher found eleven guilty and sentenced two people after arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on November 15, 2022.

NOV. 15

Gage Pack, 24, of Danville, was found guilty of Hunting Deer Out of Season, Failing to Attach a Game Check Tag, and Hunting without a Valid Hunting Permit. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine for the Out of Season charge, a $50 fine for the Game Check charge, and a $50 fine for the Hunting without Permit charge. He was also sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, was ordered to not obtain a Hunting License for one year, and was ordered the forfeiture of a rifle and deer mount to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Donnovan Johnson, 21, of Indianapolis, Indiana, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia and Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine and suspended his operator’s license for 180 days for the Possession charge and a $25 fine for Speeding.

Matthew Campbell, 49, of Galion, was found guilty of Driving Left of Center. The Court sentenced him to pay a $25 fine.

Janet Byler, 40, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $100 fine.

Eva Nash, 63, of Walhonding, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $125 fine.

Miriam Miller, 55, of Gambier, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $50 fine.

Dalton Kelly, 36, of Butler, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.

Jessica Batten, 43, of Butler, was found guilty of Driving Under a 12-Point Suspension. The Court sentenced her to serve three days in jail.

Teddy Jencson, 38, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and Obstructing Official Business. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail for each charge.

Christina Garretson, 35, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Trespassing. The Court sentenced her to serve twenty days in jail.

Jeremy Morris, 33, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Obstructing Official Business and Resisting Arrest. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail.

Brandy Orndorff, 40, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on October 10, 2022. Today she was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 115 days suspended, and was placed on two years of probation.

Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Orndorff case.

Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.

NOV. 14

Sierra Duncan, 33, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Trespassing. The Court sentenced her to serve seven days in jail.

Christian Bourst, 22, of Newark, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Nicholas Bevans, 36, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. He will be sentenced on Dec. 19, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.
