CENTERBURG — Centerburg’s Board of Education approved the purchase of several new Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning units for the administrative building, costing roughly $570,000.
The heat and cooling units are expected to be installed during the summer, Centerburg Supt. Ryan Gallwitz said. The HVAC units will be paid mostly by ESSER II and III funds totaling $325,000. The rest will be drawn from general funds.
The administrative building’s boiler system is either on or off, Gallwitz said, meaning during the winter rooms can reach 90 degrees.
“When you come into the office it’s either really cold or they turned the heat on and by 9 a.m. it’s 90 degrees,” he said.
What the HVAC units will do is give the building and preschool supplemental heat, the superintendent said.
Also at the meeting, a 1950 John Deere MT tractor was donated to the district’s FFA program by Centerburg citizen Mike Stuff.
