MOUNT VERNON — Judge John Thatcher found 17 defendants guilty and sentenced one person after arraignments and hearings were conducted this week in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

The Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office brought forward these cases.

SEPT. 27

Robert Snyder, 48, of Newark, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and Use of Unauthorized Plates. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine for the DUS charge and a $50 fine for the Unauthorized Plates charge.

Richard Harper, 76, of Heath, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine.

Susan Horn, 69, of Johnstown, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $75 fine.

David Goings, 34, of Newark, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine.

William Dunfee, 57, of Frazeysburg, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine.

Paul Steele, 36, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $35 fine.

Robert Humphrey, 43, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Menacing and Criminal Trespassing. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for 19 days served.

Tristen Cherryhomes, 25, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Improperly Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine, serve three days in jail, and was sentenced to complete 15 hours of community service.

Kathy Cook, 49, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Failing to Stop After an Accident. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 165 days suspended, placed her on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment, complete 15 hours of community service and complete the Court’s Thinking for a Change program.

Joshua McKinney, 41, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Bradley Leconey, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine.

Angela Rodgers, 36, of Blacklick, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.

Dustin Atkinson, 36, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with Fictitious Plates. The Court sentenced him to pay a $225 fine.

Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.

SEPT. 26

Bruce Morrison, 51, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse and Driving Under an OVI/ALS Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $700 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 150 days suspended, placed him on three years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for two years for the OVI charges and to pay a $250 fine, serve 30 days in jail, and suspended his operator’s license for 30 days for the DUS charge.

Noah Dunn, 24, of Howard, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Scott Miglin, 51, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Jacob Rook, 19, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine and to serve three days in jail.

Thomas Felda, 54, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior on Sept. 12. Today he was sentenced to pay a $100 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and was placed on one year of probation with the following condition: complete eight hours of community service.
