MOUNT VERNON — Judge John Thatcher and visiting Judge Kim Rose found 14 defendants guilty and sentenced 1 this week after court trials, arraignments and hearings took place in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.
These were the cases brought forward by the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office.
SEPT. 21
Judge John Thatcher found three guilty after court trials and arraignments were conducted in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Sept. 21.
Robert Connock Jr., 49, of Wooster, was found guilty of Passing a Stopped School Bus. The Court sentenced him to pay a $175 fine.
Jontey Greene, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.
Jarred Farabaugh, 30, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.
Law Director, Rob Broeren, represented the State of Ohio in the Connock Jr and Greene cases. Assistant Law Director, Brittany Whitney, represented the Village of Danville in the Farabaugh case.
SEPT. 20
Visiting Judge Kim Rose found four guilty and sentenced one person after arraignments and hearings were conducted in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Sept. 20.
Zachariah Clark, 36, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty Criminal Damaging and Menacing by Stalking. The Court sentenced him to serve 150 days in jail.
Patrick Burkes, 30, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Criminal Trespassing and Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment.
Brady Daugherty, 37, of Saint Louisville, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Latasha Hogan, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Stop After an Accident. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 175 days suspended, and placed her on one year of probation.
Brenden Moore, 41, of Howard, was found guilty of Domestic Violence and Menacing by Stalking. He will be sentenced on Oct. 25 following a pre-sentence investigation.
Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Clark case and the State of Ohio in the Moore case.
Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.
SEPT. 19
Judge John Thatcher found seven guilty after hearings were conducted in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Sept. 19.
Joseph Brickman, 46, of Howard, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay a $125 fine.
Patrik White, 18, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence while Being Underage. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with 27 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for 90 days.
Kaleb Hoffer, 26, of Newark, was found guilty of Improper Handling of a Firearm. The Court sentenced him to pay a $125 fine, complete 15 hours of community service, and to serve three days in jail.
Delano Best, 40, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Assault and Aggravated Menacing. The Court sentenced him to serve 31 days in jail, with credit for time served.
Cameron O’Brien, 20, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with 27 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
Kody Matheny, 24, of Brinkhaven, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
Ricky Knuckles, 28, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Stop After an Accident. He will be sentenced on Oct. 17, 2022.
