No matter your political party, race, or zip code, you probably agree that voters should be fully informed so that they can participate in a fair election. Debates are important, as they give voters a chance to directly compare candidates.
Yet, the Republican candidates for Ohio Governor and U.S. Senator from Ohio — two important leadership positions for our state — refuse to participate in public debates with their Democratic opponents (Nan Whaley for Governor and Tim Ryan for U.S. Senator).
The Republican refusal to debate betrays an appalling arrogance and disrespect for the voters. I can only assume that they know they are weak and hold unpopular positions. They must fear that they will look stupid in comparison with their opponents. And, they once again show how little they value the informed participation of us, the voters, in a free and fair election.
I’m tired of of not being valued, and urge you to vote for Democrats this election because they respect the process. Your votes will save our country from politicians who show nothing but disdain for we the people. We must elect leaders who value hardworking people, stand up for fairness, and work to defend our freedom.
