ASHLAND — Ashland offered a menacingly balanced approach while handling Mount Vernon during this 53-7 Ohio Cardinal Conference decision at Community Stadium on Friday night.

The Arrows opened with a 20-0 advantage over the Yellow Jackets through the first quarter. The gap expanded to 32-7 at halftime.

Ashland moved on top 46-7 heading to the final period, triggering a running clock. The Arrows finished it with another TD in the fourth quarter.

Mount Vernon falls to 1-4, 0-2 and hosts New Philadelphia next week.

Ashland improves to 3-2 overall, 1-1 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference and will play at Madison on Friday night.
